STEVE PHILP
Comedian | Actor | MC | Radio BroadcasterSteve Philp is one of Australia's most in-demand comedians and MCs, with a career spanning stage, screen and radio. He began performing as a kid's-show actor in productions of Barney the Dinosaur, Blinky Bill and The Wiggles' Dorothy the Dinosaur Show, before moving into stand-up comedy — making the finals of Green Faces and Triple J Raw Comedy and spending eight years touring nationally in support of Carl Barron, The Umbilical Brothers, Adam Hills and international acts including Arj Barker, playing sold-out rooms at the Sydney Opera House and the Enmore Theatre.
Steve's break into radio came co-writing and co-hosting the ACRA-nominated Saturday morning show "Kennedy & Philp" on Nova 969 Sydney for five years, interviewing guests including Jack Black and Ron Moss, and filling in on weekday breakfast for Merrick & Rosso over the Christmas period. On television he became a regular face on Channel Nine's NRL Footy Show, and has appeared on Australia's Got Talent, Ready Steady Cook, Top Gear Australia and SBS's The Squiz. He was one of just fourteen Australian comedians selected for NBC's Last Comic Standing, reaching the quarter-finals in front of a sold-out Miami Improv and a US TV audience of over two million.
Steve is best known as the long-running MC of Tropfest, the world's biggest short film festival (eight years running), and has hosted the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, cementing his reputation as a sharp, adaptable host equally at home with corporate crowds, comedy rooms and family audiences.
