STEVE MENZIES
Manly Legend | NRL Hall of Famer | Guest Speaker | AmbassadorSteve Menzies, affectionately known as “Beaver”, is one of the most iconic and respected figures in Australian rugby league history. Instantly recognisable by the headgear he wore throughout his 20-year professional career, Menzies built a reputation as one of the game’s toughest, most durable and most exciting forwards.
Debuting for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in 1993, Menzies went on to play 349 premiership matches and score 180 tries, a record that stands as the most tries ever scored by a forward in premiership history. Across a career spanning Manly, the Northern Eagles, Bradford Bulls and Catalans Dragons, he amassed 533 first-grade games, cementing his place as one of the toughest and most consistent competitors the game has seen.
A premiership winner with Manly in 1996 and 2008, Menzies represented Australia in 26 Test and tour matches, including the 1994 Kangaroo Tour and 1995 World Cup, and played 20 State of Origin matches for New South Wales. He was a three-time Dally M Second Rower of the Year and Dally M Lock of the Year in 2002, before being inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding career.
Since retiring, Menzies has remained close to the game he loves, moving into sports media as a commentator and on-air personality. Known for his warmth, humility and larrikin sense of humour, he brings genuine first-hand insight into what it takes to succeed and stay at the top for two decades, with a focus on resilience, longevity, teamwork and giving everything for the jersey.
