Sam Cane is one of New Zealand rugby’s most respected leaders, having enjoyed an outstanding international career spanning more than a decade with the All Blacks.

A powerful and uncompromising flanker, Sam represented New Zealand in 104 Tests between 2012 and 2024, including 27 Tests as All Blacks captain. He was part of New Zealand’s 2015 Rugby World Cup winning team and captained the All Blacks at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Sam made his All Blacks debut against Ireland in 2012 after helping New Zealand win the 2011 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. He went on to become a key figure within the All Blacks environment, recognised for his defensive ability, consistency, resilience and leadership.

At Super Rugby level, Sam was a long-standing leader of the Chiefs, making more than 150 appearances and helping the club to consecutive Super Rugby titles in 2012 and 2013. He was also named the 2020 All Blacks Player of the Year.

Beyond his achievements on the field, Sam brings a wealth of experience in leadership, high performance, resilience, teamwork and culture. His career has given him first-hand insight into the pressures of elite sport, leading teams at the highest level and performing under intense scrutiny.
