PAUL SIRONEN
BALMAIN TIGERS LEGEND, NSW ORIGIN & AUSTRALIAN KANGAROOPaul “Siro” Sironen is one of the great characters and toughest forwards of rugby league’s golden era. After a stint in American football in Hawaii, he joined Balmain, was named Dally M Rookie of the Year in 1986 and went on to play 246 games for the Tigers, the most in the club’s history, scoring one of the great grand final tries in 1989. He is named in both the Balmain and Wests Tigers Teams of the Century.
Siro played 14 State of Origin games for NSW and more than 20 Tests for Australia, and became only the fourth forward in history to make three Kangaroo tours. He finished his playing days winning a French championship with Villeneuve, then spent more than two decades giving back to the Tigers as a board member and pathways manager. A proud dad to NRL players Curtis and Bayley and an NSWRL ambassador, he brings big laughs and even bigger stories to every room.
