Greg Ritchie — affectionately known as "Fat Cat" — was one of Australian cricket's great characters, a burly middle-order batsman whose timing at the crease was as celebrated as his personality off it. Ritchie played 30 Tests for Australia, scoring 1,690 runs at an average of 35, including three centuries and seven half-centuries, and represented Queensland for 10 seasons, amassing over 6,000 Sheffield Shield runs — enough to see him named one of Queensland's seven greatest Shield run-scorers in 2000.

Since retiring in 1986, Ritchie has built a long career in media and entertainment: two years as part of the Channel Nine and Optus Vision cricket commentary teams, three years co-hosting Triple M Brisbane's weekday breakfast show, and a regular spot on Channel Nine's Footy Show in Sydney, where he introduced his comic alter-ego Mahatma Cote. He has also held business interests in insurance and travel, including as Managing Director of Greg Ritchie Travel.

Today Ritchie is regarded as one of Australia's finest after dinner speakers — a natural motivator, a gifted MC and auctioneer, and a raconteur whose cricket stories and quick wit consistently win over corporate and sporting audiences alike.
