Frank Ponissi is one of rugby league’s most respected football administrators, recognised for his significant contributions to the sustained success of the Melbourne Storm and his growing influence at the elite representative level.
For over 17 years, Frank has served as Director of Football at the Melbourne Storm, joining the club in November 2007 and forming a formidable partnership with head coach Craig Bellamy that has driven consistent success in the NRL. During his tenure, Storm has achieved numerous finals appearances and premiership triumphs, with Frank playing a pivotal role in planning, player development, and the on‑field football program that has become a benchmark in Australian rugby league.
A key part of his legacy at Storm has been strengthening the club’s football pathways, including the establishment and oversight of junior representative programs aimed at developing future NRL talent.
Beyond club football, Frank has also taken his expertise to State of Origin level, working with the New South Wales Blues as Team Performance Manager. In this role he has been involved in the preparation and performance environment for the Blues, contributing to high‑performance planning and support throughout the Origin series.
