Erin Mortimer trained across all styles of dance at Langshaw Dancity under her late mentor, Bernadette Langshaw-Clarke. A professional singer, songwriter, and musician in her own right, she completed a Bachelor of Music at the Australian Institute of Music in 2008 and released her debut album From London to Oz in 2013.
Erin has built an extensive career as a children’s performing arts tutor, working with ARTS HQ (formerly CASPA) and Kids UpFront Drama. From 2011 to 2018, she was based in London, where she taught with the Royal Academy of Dance London HQ and across numerous primary and secondary schools in the city’s southwest. Alongside her teaching, she maintained an active performance career, appearing regularly as an acoustic and band musician across some of London’s most vibrant live music venues.
Her performance and creative credits span stage, ceremony, and broadcast, including Grease – The Arena SpectacularAustralian tour (2005) as an ensemble dancer and understudy to Donna-Sue; Peace Train – The Cat Stevens StoryAustralian and UK tours (2008–2017) as a featured vocalist and musician; National Anthem soloist for the Rugby League Tri Nations (GB v AUS, 2006), NRL State of Origin (2008, 2013, and 2025 decider), the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony (Tin Symphony dancer), and the 2002 CHOGM Opening Ceremony before HRH Queen Elizabeth II. In 2025, Erin also served as Children’s Director for Annie the Musical and most recently featured on ABC’s The PianoSeason 2.
Her appearance on The Piano carried a deeply personal resonance. While Erin’s artistry stands firmly in her own right, the moment also held quiet significance through her connection to one of rugby league’s most iconic figures, her father, Steve Mortimer. That legacy, paired with her own creative path, added an additional layer of meaning to her performance and the story she shared on the program.
