Ellie Johnston is one of the NRLW's most powerful and consistent forwards, a try scoring prop who has built her career from the front row up.

Born in Taree and raised through the Kendall Blues junior system, Ellie made her NRLW debut in 2020 with the St George Illawarra Dragons before moving to the Parramatta Eels for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Since 2023 she has worn the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks jersey, becoming the first player in club history to reach 50 NRLW games and helping steer the Sharks to a Grand Final appearance in their inaugural 2024 season.

Across 55 NRLW appearances, Ellie has crossed for 15 tries, a strong return for a prop known as much for her workrate as her finishing. Her form was rewarded in 2025 with representative debuts for both NSW and Australia, cementing her place among the game's elite front rowers.

Off the field, Ellie's story runs deeper than rugby league. A talented equestrian, she competes in barrel racing and rodeo, and represented Australia in Junior Indoor Netball at just 17. It's this blend of toughness, versatility and country roots that makes Ellie Johnston a standout on and off the paddock.
